Divorce

A divorce brings about a series of implications. In many cases financial issues have to be clarified and new provisions have to be made for the custody of the mutual children. An overview is available for you here.

A marriage can generally only be dissolved by a divorce – except in the case of the death of a spouse or a declaration of death. In Germany the divorce is executed by court judgement of the relevant Family Court (Amtsgericht ). Only exception: The marriage can be annulled if the reason the marriage took place was due to improper actions (e.g. due to threats, violence) or there is a fictitious marriage.
